Police Diver (80 hours)
The purpose of this program is to train and certify law enforcement officers in an intensive 80 hour course designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of Police Divers. The course will combine classroom instruction with practical in-water application. The student will be exposed to tasks that directly relate to Police Diving.
The diver’s training and certification include:
- General marine surveys
- Inspections of boat hulls, bridges, piers, and docks
- Dive team management and organization
- Basic underwater search and recovery
- Basic underwater crime scene investigation and preservation
- Equipment configuration
- Selection of search patterns
- Line signals
- Vehicle extrication
- Understanding the psychology of stress, fear, and panic
Upon successful completion of the course, each student will receive a certificate, recognizing him or her as a Police Diver.

Special Response Diver (40 hours)
The purpose of this program is to train and certify an individual as a public safety diver in a non-law enforcement role. The (SRD) Course is an intensive 40 hour course designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of public safety divers. The course will combine classroom instruction with practical in-water application and covers the first half of the Police Diver Course. The student will be exposed to tasks that directly relate to public safety diving.
The diver’s training and certification include:
- Dive team management and organization
- Basic underwater search and recovery
- Basic underwater crime scene investigation and preservation
- Equipment configuration
- Selection of search patterns
- Line signals
- Vehicle extrication
- Understanding the psychology of stress, fear, and panic
Upon successful completion of the course, each student will receive a certificate, recognizing him or her as a Special Response Diver.
